February 2024

Burwell Architects completes a crucial gateway regeneration site between Harlow and Hertfordshire

Burwell Architects have completed the Burnt Mills development in Harlow, a crucial gateway regeneration site between Harlow and Hertfordshire. Holly Brook acquired the site with planning permission for 102 units and subsequently re-planned to increase density to 173 units. The 2.2-acre site, now with revised planning permission, provides 33 one-bedroom units,139 two-bedroom units, and 12,500 square feet of commercial space spread across 15 storeys, offering panoramic views over the River Stort and beyond to Hertfordshire.

This development consists of high-quality luxury apartments, aimed at revitalising one of Harlow’s key gateway locations. Positioned alongside the development of the north-to-centre sustainable transport corridor, it will facilitate new walking, cycling, and rapid bus routes to and from Harlow, connecting new homes at Gilston with the town centre as part of the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town project.

This significant private-sector investment into Harlow is absolutely key as we rebuild our town alongside our council-led regeneration schemes.
