Burwell Architects has completed a two-storey roof extension to provide penthouse residential apartments at a prominent junction on Bermondsey Street. The Corten curtain wall system, forming the envelope of the roof structure, consists of transparent and opaque panels that incorporate opening elements to provide purge ventilation. Louvres were incorporated into the facade for both additional purge ventilation and the MVHR system.

We served as both the delivery architect for the refurbishment to this historic building dating back to the 1900s, and as the penthouse planning and delivery architect. The development won the Premier Guarantee Office Development of the Year award and Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards Refurbishment/Conversion Highly Commended.
