Bainbridge Point in South Croydon is the first in a series of small housing projects designed by Burwell Architects for Trinity Square Developments. The design of each project is a variation of the contemporary Arts and Crafts suburban style.

The project has replaced an existing 1930’s detached house with a new apartment building with nine dwellings. The design has evolved as a contemporary response to the character, scale, and pattern of development in this suburban area of South Croydon, and has been fitted out to a very high standard, with pale wood flooring throughout that reflects the exterior light, whilst the concrete structure of the building offers excellent fire safety, thermal mass, and acoustic insulation. The building presents a wide fronted facade, offering a consistence presence to the existing houses on the road, whilst stepping back to create a facetted relationship to the southerly garden, and offering more opportunities to create large windows to the rear aspect, filling the internal space with natural light.

We are very happy that the project was named as a finalist at these prestigious awards. We accompanied our client to the award ceremony at the InterContinental The O2 in London on 11 November 2022, and a good time was had by all.
